# Deadband Calibration

Deadband calibration determines the **minimum steering angle at which the front wheels start to move**. This value must be measured and then saved in the tractor parameters in the Fieldbee application.

### Preparation

Before starting calibration:

1. **Warm up the engine and hydraulic system.**
The hydraulic steering system must be operating under normal conditions.
2. **Park the tractor on a flat surface.**
3. **Straighten the front wheels.**
4. **Exit the cabin and stand near the front wheels** so you can clearly see the moment when they begin to move.

## Calibration Procedure

1. Open **Toolbox** in the application.
2. Tap **PowerSteer**, then tap your Device ID.
3. Go to the **PowerWheel** tab, wait tha app read PowerWheel parameters.
4. Press tab **Deadband calibration**.

5. Press **Start** for start calibration.
6. Slowly change the steering angle using the **- / + controls**.
7. Carefully watch the **front wheels** and identify the **minimum steering angle at which the wheels begin to move**.

# Correction.Fix type

[![image.png](https://knowledge-base.fieldbee.com/uploads/images/gallery/2026-06/scaled-1680-/image.png)](https://knowledge-base.fieldbee.com/uploads/images/gallery/2026-06/image.png)

### Quick Guide: Fix Type Selection

The auto-steer will work **strictly only** on the exact modes you select. You can select just one or multiple options:

- **If you select only RTK:** Auto-steer works **only** on RTK.
- **If you select RTK + FRTK:** Auto-steer works **only** on these two modes.
- **If you select all of them (GPS, DGPS, FRTK, RTK):** Auto-steer works on all modes.

*(Don't forget to press **Set** to apply your choices).*

## What does this setting mean?

Selecting a specific "Fix type" establishes the **minimum acceptable accuracy threshold** for your navigation.

Simply put, you are telling the system: *"Only allow the tractor to drive on auto-steer (turn the steering wheel) when the RTK signal quality is equal."*

If the signal quality drops below your chosen level (for example, you drive under thick trees or lose the mobile internet connection for your RTK), the system will **automatically disengage the auto-steering**. This ensures the tractor doesn't suddenly swerve and ruin the row.

## How to choose the right setting in practice?

> **The Golden Rule:** The more demanding and precise the field operation, the stricter your setting should be.

1. **For seeding, planting, and inter-row cultivation:** You must select and apply the **Set** button at the **RTK** level. If the tractor suddenly loses the perfect signal and drops down to FRTK mode, the steering wheel will immediately disengage, prompting you to take manual control. This strictly protects your crops from being accidentally run over or cut out.
2. **For spraying, fertilizer spreading, discing, or plowing:** You can lower the threshold to the **FRTK** (or sometimes even **DGPS**) level. In these operations, a 15-20 cm error is not critical. By setting the permission to FRTK, the auto-steering won't constantly disengage and kick you off the guidance line during brief interruptions of the RTK signal. This will save you a lot of time and nerves.

Ultimately, this menu allows you to find the perfect balance between **maximum accuracy** (where the system doesn't forgive even a single second of signal loss) and **continuous steering operation** (where a slight error is tolerated to keep the auto-steer engaged).

### Quick Guide: GNSS Constellation Selection

This setting determines which global satellite systems your receiver will track and use to calculate its position.

Unlike the "Fix type" menu, this is a **single-choice** list where you select a specific combination of satellite networks:

- **GPS:** Uses only the American GPS system.
- **GPS + \[BDS / GLO / GAL\]:** Uses GPS plus one additional system (BeiDou, GLONASS, or Galileo).
- **GPS + GLO + GAL:** Uses three major systems.
- **GPS + GLO + GAL + BDS:** Uses all four major global satellite system.

*(Don't forget to press **Set** to apply your choice).*

# Correction(Bridge mode)

### Quick Guide: Bridge Mode (Estimation allowed)

The **Estimation allowed** toggle switch enables a temporary fallback feature designed to help you cross minor signal dead-zones.

- **How it works:** If you completely lose your RTK/GPS signal, the system uses data from its internal sensors (IMU, steering motor, etc.) to estimate your trajectory. This allows the auto-steer to continue driving straight without live corrections.
- **Duration:** By default, the system will maintain steering for up to **4 seconds**. If the signal does not recover within this time, the auto-steer will automatically disengage to prevent major deviations.
- **Customization:** The 4-second limit can be extended by sending a specific request to the R&D team. However, this is done strictly **at your own risk**, as steering accuracy degrades rapidly the longer you drive without a GPS connection.
- **Activation:** Turn the toggle switch ON to enable this feature.

# Correction(Source)

### Quick Guide: Correction Source Selection

This setting determines the method your system uses to receive RTK correction data from the base station.

- **Internet:** Receives correction signals via an NTRIP server over a mobile network or Wi-Fi. This is the most common method but requires a stable internet connection and correctly configured NTRIP settings.
- **Radio:** Receives correction signals directly from a local base station via radio frequency. This method is ideal for remote areas where cellular network coverage is poor or unavailable.

*(Don't forget to press **Set** to apply your choice).*

## FAQ – PowerWheel / Deadband Calibration Errors

[![image.png](https://knowledge-base.fieldbee.com/uploads/images/gallery/2026-06/scaled-1680-/lGcimage.png)](https://knowledge-base.fieldbee.com/uploads/images/gallery/2026-06/lGcimage.png)

### ❓ What does this error mean?

**Error: Your deadband values are invalid. First value 20.0 and second value 14.0. Difference is more than 5 degrees.**

This means the system detected that the difference between the two deadband limits is too large.
Normally, the difference must be **≤ 5°**, but in this case it exceeds the allowed threshold.

---

### ❓ Why does this error happen?

Most common causes:

- ❌ Incorrect or incomplete steering calibration
- ❌ Mechanical play (looseness) in the steering system or linkage
- ❌ Worn bearings, joints, or steering components
- ❌ Loose mounting of the PowerWheel system
- ❌ Failed or unstable auto-calibration process

---

### ❓ Can this affect system performance?

Yes.

Incorrect deadband settings may cause:

- ❗ unstable or “floating” steering behavior
- ❗ constant micro-corrections from the system
- ❗ reduced steering accuracy
- ❗ delayed or inconsistent response
